Mavrick @ 13 Months...

So my little boy is 13 months old! I cannot believe I still have a toddler! He celebrated his 13 month old mark by attending the hospital on the very day. Kinda ironic...but we love him. He can get me so frustrated sometimes but most of the time he makes me laugh so hard! Haha. Even when he is being mischievous. Which is 90% of the time. A couple things that he is up too right now...

---Loves DUMPing out things on the floor...putting them back in...and then dumping them again.

---Is 29" tall and weighs 25 lbs.

---Is wearing 18 month clothes and quickly growing out of them.

---Like string cheese now-a-days and his current favorite cereal is Berry KIX. Oh...also those Otter Pop things! He knows that if he goes over to Grandmama's and Grandpa's he is going to get one. So he goes and stands by the freezer till someone gets him one. Haha. =)

---Does this little fake laugh thing. If he thinks something is funny he gives you this little laugh smile thing. Its hard to explain but it is the funniest thing in the world.

---Loves watching his uncle Jordan do flips on the ottoman at Grandmama's and Grandpa's house. He seriously laughs so hard. I have a video of it but I don't know how to load them up on here. It never works. Haha.

---Can throw the ball to you.

---Is officially into a sippy cup now. YAY! No bottles!

---He has his first dental appointment tomorrow which should be interesting. I am dreading it.

---Likes to climb stairs...ALOT! Especially the ones at my parents...so we have to block it off when we are there.

---He really likes dogs and animals. I get nervous though...one day they are going to get fed up with him and bite him. Lol. =)

---Can jump off two feet now. Pretty impressive the doctor said for how young he is.

---We are currently trying to go through the ABC's but its not going so well...

---Trots in a circle until he is dizzy and can't stand up.

Here are a few pictures of him at our Williamson (extended) Family Reunion.

He came looking like this...

Got into some mud...My little boy @ 13 months.

And left looking like this...Ryan looks ticked! Haha. It was so hot!

Daddy and Mavrick

This is that little goofy laugh/smile thing he does now...

We went swimming the same day to our friend's the Moore's. They have the nicest Salt Water pool. When we get ours we are totally getting a Salt water one! They are so nice and easy to maintain and soft on the skin and hair. I loved it.

Attempt at a family photo...haha.

Uncle Jay

Daddy trying to teach Mavrick how to swim...

So Mavrick and I had a "little moment" last night. You know...those ones where they are really stupid activities but are special for some reason. Haha. Only a Mom would say that. So I went to the bathroom for like a minute and I come back to find him with the bowl of lettuce EVERYWHERE! At first I was frustrated but then I remembered a picture my Mom took of me at the same age with a bowl of lettuce I had spilt all over the ground. Haha. I need to go get it from her to compare the two. Anyway...so I took some pictures of him and we played in the lettuce together. It was everywhere but nothing a broom couldn't handle. =)
Here are some pictures of him playing in it...so fun.
(please excuse the messy house...we had a busy weekend. Lol.)

He didn't like the feel of the lettuce under his feet. Haha.

we put it all back in the bowl...

Just so he could dump it out again! Lol.

Enjoy!

Mavrick's 1st Trip to the ER...

So this weekend was a fun/scary one. My wonderful son just hit another "Right of Passage" by making it to the Emergency Room this weekend. Ahhh....some how I have a feeling this is not going to be the first time. Growing up I NEVER went to the hospital so I blame this on Ryan's side of the family. Haha. =)

It all started Saturday night when I left the baby with Ryan for a couple hours to go play some softball. I get a call at about 11:30 pm asking where the Insurance Card is. So of course 5,000 different questions and scenarios are going through my mind at that time. Ryan then perceives to  tell me that he thinks our son has swallowed some carpet nails/tacks and that he is taking him to the emergency room. Nice. I thought he was over the "eating everything in sight" stage but I guess not. But he is in the crawling onto chairs and tables stage so that is how he GOT the tacks in the first place. I got to the hospital and they had already taken him to get an x-ray by the time I got there. They said he had swallowed 5 nails but they were past his esophagus and into his stomach already which was good. But they still wanted to keep him over night or 14 hours to make sure they didn't puncture anything going down.
Here is a picture of the nails he swallowed...small but pointy!
Mavrick was so tired and on top of that he couldn't eat anything. Just water. So he was really upset. In the examination room they took his blood and it was so sad. I started crying. He just was crying and looking at me like "WHY?" I felt so bad. Ryan was pretty upset too not that he would admit it. So it was about 4:00 am when they finally got us into his pediatric room where he gets a second wind. He was jumping on the bed and pulling the nurses stethoscopes and everything else you can imagine. The nurses kept saying "wow...is he always like this?" And we said
"Yes. Well...whenever he is awake." haha.

Here are a few pictures of him in the hospital. Sorry they are such poor quality. My phone camera was all that I had.

They put a little hospital gown on him. He was so cute! Haha.

His poor little hand. They had to put an IV in him just in case.

He was running around the pediatric hallways. The Nurses LOVED him. He would go back and forth from the nurses desk to fish tank they had.

He got to watch all the Disney movies he wanted and drink all the apple juice he wanted. Haha. They finally released us around 1:00 pm on Sunday. What was kinda funny was that I was suppose to give a talk this past Sunday. HAHA! So I had a good excuse for not giving it. I am sure they were thinking..."Some people would do anything to get out of giving a talk." =)

So that was our ER adventure. I had no clue what to expect. The only time in my life I ever went to the hospital was when I gave birth to Mavrick so I was asking a ton of annoying questions the whole time. Oh well...I guess you learn as you go. We went home and all crashed for a good 4 hours. We weren't scared at all about the tacks puncturing him in anyway surprisingly. I just hated seeing him so upset and being held down. It broke my heart! I hope we don't have to go through that again.

Girl's Camp 2011: Seek the Adventure

So i just got back from a couple nights at the Stake Girl's Camp! It was my first time back since I was a YCL so like 4 years. I was never a huge fan of Girl's Camp growing up to be honest...but it seems a lot more relaxed now. The Stake Young Women Presidency did such a good job and it seemed like EVERYONE had a great time. Even me! I was over the 4th years. They were so much fun! I felt like a 4th year. Haha. I think some of them were more mature than I was. Haha. =) We were in cabins with AC which was nice. Haha. That is how we roll in the Orange Texas Stake. We spare no expense. Haha.

I kinda came in on the last part of the week cause I have Mavrick and he is still pretty young to go away for too long. Ryan is so busy during the week I see him in the morning and at night so we got Grandmama to watch him. He always seems to have fun over there but for some reason lately he has been ATTACKING his Aunt Kami for no reason at all. Like she is annoying him or something. Its hilarious!! After she watches him she comes away with bruises and scratches on her face. LOL! Its so hard not to laugh but I can't help it. Not sure how to discipline him yet. I think he is still too little. He doesn't understand time out or a spanking. The only thing he responds too is Ryan's "MAVRICK!" tone. Haha. Anyway...

So back to girls camp. I had to put together the 4th year program in about 2 days! I am horrible at skits and stuff like that. But we ended up doing a skit to the Dr. Suess Classic "Oh the Places You'll Go!" YW edtition of course. it went perfect with the theme of "Seek the Adventure..." for the whole camp. We took parts of the book and acted out scenarios and ended with a little quote of something they learned at the end of each one. I was worried about it being to cheesy but all the leaders and girls loved it. I was so proud of the 4th years! They did such a good job and it was funny and spiritual at the same time. They made my job pretty easy.

The YW drew and colored this! It looked almost exactly like the book cover!
They were such a good group of girls. I was so impressed by them and their sweet spirits and enthusiasm for the gospel. It was so inspiring.

I liked Girl's Camp a lot because it gave me a chance to hang with the Young Women and get to know them on a more personal level and bond with them without having any other distractions. I could just focus on that. Below are MY Young Women in our ward and the leaders I serve with. The Young Women Presidency that I serve with is Awesome! They put so much time and effort into this camp and into each one of the girls! I LOVE serving with them.

I really love being a member of this church. I love the programs that are set up within the church to help everyone grow in the gospel. And not only grow personally but grow together as members. All of the girls were so good about making everyone feel included. "Seek the adventure..." was such a perfect theme to help these YW realize how much potential they have...how much their Heavenly Father loves them no matter the trials they are given in life.
Life is as fun as you make it.

Our Trip to San Antonio and Father's Day!

So this weekend was long but fun. We took a nice little trip to San Antonio. Ryan is doing summer school and working 26 hours a week so we are not going to be able to have a big family trip...so this was kinda it. But it was fun. We left Friday and drove 4 hours to San Antonio. It was not as bad as it sounds. Ryan told me about his book series that he has been reading almost half the way. So that kept us entertained. I also played a game called 7 little words on my iPod. If you don't have that App...GET it! I love it. Anyway...Mavrick slept most of the way so as you can imagine he was well rested when we arrived about 10:00 at night. Haha. So needless to say he stayed up till about 1:30. But when we arrived we met up with Kade and Jen and went out to eat at Johnny Carinos's. It was kinda their wedding present that we never gave them. Mavrick was HORRIBLE! We didn't even get to eat out food. He was screaming cause he wanted to climb on top of the tables and everything else. He was just tired of sitting I think. So we left and back to Kade's place for the night. it was so good to see them and hang out. We talked and ryan and him stayed up watching a movie and playing tanks till like 3 in the morning. While Mavrick was pulling my hair and giving me slobbery kisses as I TRIED to sleep. So anyway...Saturday we woke up and started getting ready for Sea World when i realized that I forgot to bring my Contacts! I was so upset. I hate how you have to have a prescription for contacts. I wish i could just have picked some up. But I got over it. There was not much I could do so instead of letting it ruin my trip I acted like it was no big deal. I wanted Ryan and Mavrick to have fun that day. Here are some cute pictures from sea world...

Ryan's Crazy Hair

I love this picture. =) Mav liked the Dolphins.

At the shark and fish tank. Seriously...sharks are so creepy looking. They have got some scary teeth.

After we looked around Mavrick got ansi so we decided to take him to the bay of Play toddler area. We separated from Kade and Jen for a little while. Babies are kinda a buzz kill at theme parks. but....HE HAD A BLAST!!!!
Jumping...

running....

falling...

and more jumping! Haha.

We also got to hit up a couple shows. Like the beluga whale one and Shamu. I didn't get any pictures of the Beluga whale show. Forgot. But they had divers and they were amazing!

Daddy and Mav at the Beluga whale show. Mav was so tired.

Quick family photo

He fell asleep eating his cracker! HAHA!

The fabulous Hosts! =) They were really good to go with us even though it was their third time. They bought season passes.

It was seriously so cool what they could do. i mean I know they probably do it in the wild already but on cue with a trainer is a pretty cool trick! =)

The stadium was beautiful!

After the shows we went and got something to eat. I HATE how expensive food is and it was the crappiest buffet ever! Haha. Oh well...

Picture of Mavrick's signature move while throwing a tantrum. We wouldn't let him climb on the table.

Sad face after Daddy got on to him for throwing a fit. I know I  shouldn't laugh but sometimes I can't help it. He has the saddest little face. Haha. Kade tried to cheer him up with pudding. Lol.

Messy after eating...I love my little boy! =)

Nothing is safe on tables anymore. Love this stage.

So after a long day we headed back to the hotel. I was beat! Its alot of work with a little toddler. Everyone was pretty beat and we needed to get Mavrick out of the sun for a while.

Kade and Mavick fighting. haha. =)

After we showered, ate dinner, and got well rested...Ryan and Kade wanted to go play Terminator Salvation at a movie theatre arcade. Mavrick ran around and did this...

He looks so big!
On Father's Day in honor of Ryan we went to the Bass Pro Shop. Its like a Cabela's but bigger.

In awe....

Creepy Monkeys. And we bought Mavrick a squeaky dog toy to play with. Haha. =)
After we said our good buys we headed to Uncle Quinn and Aunt Kathy's for dinner to see Uncle Derwin and Aunt Becky. They were so nice to let us over. I feel bad for their poor cat though. He was terrorized by Mavirck.

Love this one. =)

Star wouldn't let him up the stairs. haha.

They couldn't believe how busy he was...most people don't until they hang out with us. Maybe that is why we don't get asked over to peoples houses too often! Haha. =)

It was nice to see some of Ryan's family. They are good people. We left around 8:15 and headed home on a 4 1/2 hour drive. It was rough. We were so tired but we made it home around 1:45 am. We went straight to bed until Ryan had to get up for work at 6:00 and had class all day and then had to go work at the dentist office all night. So I knew he was going to be hungry and tired when he got home. So I made a yummy healthy dinner. It was pretty good. I am doing Weight Watchers so we have been eating better meals lately.

"Oven Fried" Ranch Chicken w/ Low Fat Ranch and skin taken off and Panko Bread crumbs. In case you were wondering...Panko Bread crumbs are 10x better than normal ones. They are crunchier. =) And the Okra was yummy too. A southern Meal. Haha. on weight watchers all vegetables and fruit are free so we go through a lot now days. haha.

So Ryan had a pretty good fathers day. He is the best baby daddy a girl could ask for. Better than I ever thought he would be. Haha. I don't know how he juggles work, school, internship, church calling, being and dad and a husband. Its amazing how he Lord takes care of you and gives you time to do everything.

Mavrick loves his Dad. When he gets home I yell "Its Da..." and he runs to the door to wait for him to come through. Its so cute! =) I think he learned it from his Dad cause Ryan's Dad is a great guy!

But I will always be partial to my Dad. We are very similar in personality and kinda always been a Daddy's girl. One thing that he taught me that always stuck with me  was "There is a time for work, and a time for play, but there is never a time for disobedience." I hope I can be as good of a parent as he is. =) I am so blessed to have all these Great Father's in My life.
