So last weekend we attempted to go spend the night at our Uncle Joe's Lake Cabin. Why we thought that would be easy is actually kind funny to me now but at 1:30 in the morning when we are driving home it was not. We headed up there on Friday afternoon. Its only an hour and a half drive so its not bad. It is on Toledo Bend Lake so it is in a really pretty hilly area of Texas. The weather was perfect and it was nice to "try" and get away for a night. I say try cause Mavrick does not sleep very well as I have explained in other previous posts. We have finally gotten him on a little routine at our house that helps his sleeping habits but even that only works 1/2 the time. So when we try to sleep at other places it is a NIGHTMARE! We finally drove him around for about 20 min in the car and he fell asleep around 11:30. We got back to the cabin (which the AC was not working I might add) and we got ready for bed and Ryan and I got a full 45 min before we woke up to Mavrick pooring in sweat and hysterical. Nice! So we decided to pack up and drive home instead of fight him and not allow my brothers and Dad to get sleep.
So that is that little nightmare of a night. But the before was perfect. We got to the cabin and the first thing Mavrick did was jump out of the car and yell out of excitement. This kid is always outside and you would have thought it was the first time for him to see daylight. Haha. =) The second thing he did was unload his dinosaurs (which he calls "di-dor") and find them a home on the porch. He is so cute.
Here is a picture of the cabin. Ryan really liked it. I came here alot growing up and its in such a nice spot AWAY from the water about 300-400 feet. Perfect for my Mavrick. =)
Mavrick got to swing on the rope swing with Uncle Jordan. Grandpa tried but we all got kinda worried for the poor tree branch so he stuck to pushing. Mav loved it. Ryan and I just kinda walked around, explored and talked about "our future cabin." What can we say...we are dreamers. Haha. =)
For some reason Mav was also running around like this and exploring the land.
Down at the LAKE
We headed down to the Lake where Mavrick even had more fun. He loves water and has NO fear of it. Which makes Ryan and I worry a lot but we keep pretty good eyes on him. We are going to start teaching him how to swim this summer. Not sure if it will take but we figure the sooner he learns...the better. But the water was actually pretty chilly and it did not phase him at all.

I love this picture. =)
He is starting to look more and more like his Daddy. I didn't get barely any pictures with him cause I was behind the camera so I told Ryan next trip he is the picture taker.
This is a good picture of all the goofy boys.

We rode everywhere in the back of the truck and Mav was trying to climb up on the hood of the truck while it was going! I am telling you...this kid has no fear! Haha. But he would also lay down in the bed of the truck and yell out of pure excitement. I promise we do fun things with him all the time...he is just a super excited energized little boy and we love him for it. He gets excited about the little things in life which makes us get excited about them too. It makes the horrible sleeping, picky eating, and tantrum throwing completely worth it.
Playing in the cold rain.
All in all it was a fun little trip and we hope to go back sometime during the summer. Uncle Joe is nice enough to let us borrow it pretty much whenever we just might have to rake a few leaves while we are there for "rent." =)
